FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
What to know about identification, signers, witnesses, pricing, travel, and appointment requests.
What identification is accepted?
Please bring a current government-issued photo ID, such as a driver’s license, state ID card, passport, or other identification permitted under Washington law.
Does the signer have to be there in person?
Yes. Every person whose signature will be notarized must personally appear before Dona. Someone else may request or schedule the appointment, but cannot appear or sign in place of an absent signer. A legally authorized representative may sign in a representative capacity, but that representative must personally appear.
Can you explain, choose, or prepare my legal documents?
No. Dona is not an attorney and cannot provide legal advice, choose documents for you, or prepare legal documents. Please contact a licensed attorney or the agency requesting the document if you need guidance.
Do you provide witnesses?
Dona can arrange one document witness for $25 when requested in advance and when available. Witness eligibility depends on the document, and clients are responsible for confirming how many qualified witnesses their document requires.
What payment methods do you accept?
Cash, Zelle, and Venmo are currently accepted. Additional payment options may be added later.
What is the cancellation policy?
Appointments canceled at least 24 hours before the scheduled time receive a full refund of any prepaid amount. If Dona is already en route when the appointment is canceled, a fee equal to half of the applicable travel fee will be charged.
Are appointments available outside regular office hours?
Yes. Requests are accepted for evenings, late-night and overnight hours, weekends, and holidays. Published special-hours and priority fees apply in addition to applicable notarial and travel fees. Dona confirms the total before traveling.
Can I request same-day service?
Yes. Same-day requests may be submitted with at least two hours’ notice, but availability is not guaranteed. A published same-day priority fee applies when accepted.
Do you travel beyond the 50-mile service area?
Appointments outside the standard service area may be considered depending on availability. Additional travel charges are quoted and agreed upon in advance.
Can you help with apostilles?
Dona can help with document notarization and provide guidance through the Washington apostille submission process. Apostilles themselves are issued by the Washington Secretary of State.
Do you provide I-9 verification?
Dona may serve as an employer-designated authorized representative for in-person review of identity and employment-authorization documents. This is not a notarial act.
What happens after I submit a request?
The website confirms receipt and sends a confirmation email. Dona then reviews the request and contacts you to confirm availability, location, signer requirements, and pricing. The form submission itself does not confirm an appointment.
